BLACKPINK unveiled their 3D avatar M/V for ‘Ready For Love’, which is a special track for the in-game concert of ‘Battleground Mobile’ at 1PM on the 29th. The M/V ranked no.1 on YouTube’s Worldwide Trending.
The 3D avatar music video for “Ready For Love” reached 15.71 million views within 24 hours of release, recording the highest number of views on YouTube that day. Considering that the song was not officially released as a song, and that it’s a 3D avatar video in which BLACKPINK members do not appear themselves, the feat shows global fans’ interest and expectation for their music.
Major foreign media outlets also shed spotlight to BLACKPINK’s ‘Ready For Love’ 3D avatar music video. U.S. music media outlet Billboard reported on the news of their 3D avatar music video saying that “BLACKPINK set fire to the already hyped atmosphere for their comeback with an attractive pop harmony”. They then added, “they will continue to re-write history this year”.
Rolling Stone shed light to BLACKPINK’s past interviews and said, “The members’ voices completed ‘Ready For Love’ in a beautiful way.” Forbes, “The ‘Ready For Love’ music video, which was created together by BLACKPINK and PUBG Mobile, opened up a new era of metaverse”.
In addition to in-game concerts, BLACKPINK has conducted strategic collaborations with metaverse-based platforms. In 2020, the group joined hands with Zepeto, a global augmented reality avatar service, to release the performance video of “Ice Cream”, and also held the world’s first new concept virtual fan signing event.
Meanwhile, riding on this popularity, BLACKPINK is set to make a comeback as a full group in August and launch the largest world tour in the history of K-pop girl groups by carrying out a series of new song projects.
