Duck Donuts to enter Thailand with 10 stores planned by 2027

US-based donut franchise group Duck Donuts is set to open its first outlet in Thailand later this year, part of 10 agreed with Thai franchise group The Great Restaurant Group Co.

US donut and coffee chain Duck Donuts has announced it will enter the Thai market fin partnership with The Great Restaurant Group Co.

The Bangkok-based hospitality group is set to open 10 Duck Donuts stores across Thailand over the next five years with the first outlet, located in the Thai capital, expected to open before the end of 2022.

Joseph Kim, CEO of The Great Restaurant Group Co.,said that the Duck Donuts concept will make a great addition to the Bangkok community.

“Thailand’s landscape is full of dessert cafés and with the growth of the country’s social and economic development, this presents a great opportunity for new businesses such as Duck Donuts to be successful in the Thai market. We are looking forward to partnering with The Great Restaurant Group and leveraging their knowledge of the Thai market as we begin to introduce Duck Donuts throughout the country,” said Betsy Hamm, CEO, Duck Donuts.

Launched in 2007, Duck Donuts currently operates 110 locations across the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Saudi Arabia. The company, which also plans to open two outlets in Egypt this year, announced in July that it had signed 13 franchise agreements for 19 stores during the second quarter of 2022.

Alongside fellow US chains Dunkin’ and Krispy Kreme, Duck Donuts will face competition from domestic chain Mister Donut, which operates nearly 400 stores across Thailand. As of the start of 2021, Dunkin’ operated approximately 300 stores and Krispy Kreme over 30.
